SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 3, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Motorists are being urged to slow down and be careful after three Utah Highway Patrol cars were hit Monday during the heavy snow storms.
A trooper was helping to block traffic on I-15 in Provo Monday afternoon when his vehicle was hit by at least two cars, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The first video above, released by the UHP, shows a second trooper pulling up to the first trooper who was hit. The damage to the back end of the first trooper’s car is shown.
The second trooper was responding to provide extra traffic control for the first trooper who was hit. The second video is after the second trooper is in place for traffic control when his vehicle is struck.
Another UHP vehicle was hit on Interstate 15 at the Interstate 80 eastbound exit Monday morning.
UHP Col. Michael Rapich made the plea on Twitter:
“Troopers along the Wasatch Front are busy with snow crashes, one UHP car struck by a driver going way too fast. Slow down and look ahead.”
None of the troopers were injured.
The National Weather Service is warning scattered storms are expected through Tuesday morning.
