SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, June 15, 2022 (Gephardt Daily) — The morning commute for some might have been a little more congested than usual Wednesday on Salt Lake County’s busy west side.

That’s because Utah Highway Patrol motorcycle cops and West Jordan Police patrol cruisers enjoyed an unannounced crackdown exercise on Bangerter Highway.

The enforcement project resulted in officers pulling over offending motorists at the rate of about one every two minutes, according to a UHP press release.

In all, according to the UHP, 127 motorists were stopped in the four-hour workout Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. to noon along the 24-mile expressway serving the western suburbs of Salt Lake County.

Police cited 11 for speeding, counted 17 seat belt violations, made two drug arrests and tallied 25 other moving and non-moving violations.

“Bangerter Highway (speed limit)  is only 55 MPH,” the release concluded. “Slow down and pay attention to your speed.”
