SOUTH OGDEN, Utah, Nov. 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A female driver was booked into jail on multiple charges Sunday night after police say she ran a red light and plowed into a South Ogden Police squad car.

The crash occurred at about 10:39 p.m. as a South Ogden police car was traveling north on Adams Parkway and entered the intersection at State Route 89 (Washington Boulevard) on a green light, a Utah Highway Patrol news release states.

A white Chevrolet Aveo heading south on SR-89 failed to stop for the red light.

“The female driver entered the intersection at or near the posted speed limit of 55 mph and struck the front of the South Ogden Police vehicle. No serious injuries were sustained but both vehicles were disabled with moderate damage,” the news release says.

The driver of the Aveo was alcohol revoked, interlock restricted without an interlock installed, alcohol restricted, and was under the influence at the time of this incident, according to the release. She was booked into the Weber County Jail.

UHP responded to the scene and is handling the investigation, as required by protocol, because South Ogden’s police vehicle was involved.
