MAGNA, Utah, March 16, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters in Magna were in the right place at the right time when a blaze broke out in a commercial-type structure Saturday evening.

Unified Fire Authority crews were getting ready for dinner when they noticed thick, black smoke pouring out of a large, abandoned building behind the fire station, UFA said on Twitter and Instagram.

“The crews immediately struck a 2-alarm assignment and went to work,” the post said.

West Valley City Fire Department also responded to assist in getting the blaze under control.

The building, at 3291 S. 8400 West, sustained significant damage, but crews were able to get the fire knocked down quickly, preventing the flames from spreading throughout the structure.

No dollar estimate of damage was immediately available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
