UNICOI COUNTY, Tennessee, Oct. 6, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Unified Fire Department has shared information from Task Force 1, one of the units staffed by Utah firefighters and helping local emergency crews in the southeast after the devastation and damage caused last month by Tropical Storm Helene.
“The team continued their operations today under challenging, austere conditions,” says a post from late last week.
“Their work involved utilizing specialized equipment, including setting up a tripod and high-angle rope system to access a vehicle positioned below.
“In addition, they deployed an inflatable rescue boat (IRB) to assist with water-based search efforts. After a full day of hard work, the team has wrapped up for the day but will be back early tomorrow to continue their assigned mission.”
Multiple Utah emergency response agencies have responded to the call for help, sending crews to various communities trying to recover from the massive storm.
