MAGNA, Utah, Dec. 14, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a friend with a machete, leaving the victim with wounds to his chest, neck and forehead.
Unified police were dispatched Friday to an apartment at 8480 W. Henderson Way, in Magna.
“At arrival, the victim was observed with a small stab wound to his chest/neck area. He also had blood coming from the right side of his forehead,” says a court document filed in the arrest of 29-year-old Skyler Garrett Anderson.
“The victim stated he had been hanging out with two friends at his apartment when the arrestee stabbed him.”
The victim said the other friend took the suspect to the garage to separate them.
The victim then called the friend, who told him to come to the garage and work things out.
“The victim stated he got to the garage and another altercation occurred. The victim explained he was headbutted by the arrestee and shoved out of the garage to the hallway. The arrestee then allegedly stated if the victim did not get back into his apartment, the arrestee would kill him.
Anderson “then allegedly pointed a 9mm pistol at the victim’s head and the victim retreated into his apartment and called police,” the affidavit says.
Anderson lives in the same apartment building as the man who was stabbed, the statement says.
“While officers were calling the arrestee out of his apartment, announcing as police and commanding the arrestee to stop and speak with us, he fled through his apartment and jumped off of the balcony where he was arrested.”
Anderson was arrested for investigation of:
- Two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony
- Failure to respond at command of police, a third-degree felony
- Assault, a class B misdemeanor
- Threat of violence, a class B misdemeanor
Anderson was booked into the Salt Lake County jail system. His bail was set at $500. He is no longer listed among the incarcerated.
