Update: Unified Police Department releases video of Midvale armed robbery suspect

MIDVALE, Utah, March 28, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Unified Police Department is searching for a suspect after a robbery at a 7-Eleven in Midvale early Tuesday morning.

The suspect may have committed a similar crime one week ago, officials say.

Unified Police spokesman Lt. Brian Lohrke said the second robbery occurred at approximately 1 a.m. at the 7-Eleven at 8002 S. State St.

Lohrke said the suspect went into the store, jumped the counter, and confronted a store clerk with a knife. The suspect then took undisclosed amount of money from the register and fled north on foot.

Lohrke said description of the suspect matches that of a man involved in another robbery last Tuesday at a 7-Eleven just a few blocks north on State Street, but it has not been confirmed that it is the same person.

The suspect was described by the clerk in the second robbery as a tall, slender black man with a gray and black hoodie, blue jeans, a dark blue bandanna over his face, tan boots and gloves.

Neither of the store clerks confronted in the robberies was injured.

Anyone with information on either of the robberies is asked to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
