SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 22, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Unified Police Department K-9 died early Monday morning after he was hit by a vehicle.
A UPD news release said Kuno, a 16-month-old German Shepherd, was with his off-duty handler in the handler’s personal pickup truck. The truck has a shell, and “Kuno was able to get out of the enclosed shell and was struck by a vehicle,” the release says.
Kuno, who was currently in training with his partner, died of his injuries.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to our K-9 handler who lost his dear friend and partner,” the UPD statement said.
