Man drowns when kayak flips over in Jordan River

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, June 13, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man in his 50s drowned Thursday evening when his kayak flipped over in the Jordan River in Taylorsville.

A tweet from the Unified Police Department said the incident occurred in the area of Jordan River Parkway and 4600 South just before 6 p.m.

“The kayak he was in flipped over on a spillway on the Jordan River at 4600 South,” a follow-up tweet said. “The force of the water kept him submerged.”

The man has not been identified pending notification of family members.
