DAVIS COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — One suspect is in custody and one remains at large after the Davis County Sheriff’s Office asked the public for help locating two men wanted in theft and fraud cases.
“Ken Harker is booked; Steele Brown is at large,” an update from the DCSO says.
The original request asked the public’s help identifying two suspects believed to be involved in burglary and forgery crimes.
Harker was booked on suspicion of burglary of a dwelling, a second-degree felony; and three counts of unlawful acquisition, possession or transfer of a financial card, a third-degree felony.
The offense date is listed on Harker’s probable cause statement as Aug. 25, which was Sunday. The statement says that Harker and Brown were in South Weber, with Brown driving and Harker allegedly breaking into a vehicle and stealing a handbag, which contained the victim’s Utah driver license and credit cards.
The statement, filed by an agent of the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, says the men used the stolen card at Walmart at multiple Weber and Davis County locations, and committed other forgeries in Davis County.
Investigators learned the men had been staying at a Kaysville residence, the probable cause statement says. When the pair left the residence, officials conducted a traffic stop.
“Consent to search was obtained, and several purses and gift cards were located inside the residence,” the statement says. “We also located over 12 credit cards and identifications belonging to victims throughout Davis County.”
Additional charges are expected to be filed in connection with residential burglaries in Layton, Clinton and Syracuse, Harker’s probable cause statement says.
Anyone with information on the cases or the whereabouts of Brown is asked to contact Mike Valencia, Davis County Sheriff’s Office, at 801-451-4130.
