SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Feb. 14, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A young man who was transported to the hospital in serious condition Tuesday afternoon, the victim of a shooting at 3100 S. 300 East, has died.

Gary Keller, executive officer for South Salt Lake Police, said the 16-year-old victim was pronounced dead just after midnight. The boy’s name has not been released pending notification of extended family.

Keller told Gephardt Daily the incident happened just after 4 p.m. in the residential neighborhood.

“We’re trying to talk to everyone and get the details of what happened,” Keller added.

The south side of 300 East was blocked from 3000 South to 3200 South for several hours but was reopened later Tuesday night.

The shooting investigation is ongoing, Keller said, and police are asking anyone who has any information about the incident to call South Salt Lake Police dispatch at 801-840-4000.
