ROY, Utah, Nov. 3, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The southbound Interstate 15 offramp at 5600 South in Roy remains closed Sunday morning after a Saturday morning traffic accident that turned into a hazmat spill, officials said.
A tweet from the Utah Highway Patrol Sunday at 10 a.m. said: “We are currently working on opening up the southbound I-15 5600 South offramp, in Roy. Thank you for your patience this morning.”
According to information from Roy City Police Department’s Facebook page Saturday: “a semi truck hit some poles/equipment under I-15 bridge on 5600 south and had a serious fuel leak. Hazmat is cleaning it up.”
Police are asking everyone to avoid the general area.
Utah Department of Transportation tweeted Saturday afternoon that at 9:30 p.m. the detour for I-15 will begin at 650 North in Clearfield to 1900 West, then north to Riverdale Road, then east to Interstate 84.
“Also consider NB US-89 to WB I-84 to I-15,” the tweet said.
