BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, July 21, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Black Pine Fire, which broke out in Tuesday afternoon near the Utah/Idaho border, is now 20% contained at 500-plus acres, officials said.
“Air and ground resources on the #BlackPineFire have reached 20% containment,” said a tweet from Utah Fire Info. “Smoke will remain visible in the surrounding area.”
A Tuesday tweet at 3 p.m. said: “New Start: The #BlackPineFire is burning in Box Elder County. Estimated 100-200 acres. Fire behavior is extreme and running. No structures threatened.”
U.S. Highway 42 is closed in the area and drivers are being asked to take an alternate route.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
