Update: Box Elder County ‘Goring Fire’ stays at 15,000 acres, now 80% contained

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A fast-moving fire that started Friday afternoon along Interstate 84 in Box Elder County is holding at 15,046 acres and is now 80 percent contained, officials said Sunday evening.

The lightning-caused “Goring Fire” had caused the shut down of I-84 from Snowville to Tremonton on Friday night, but the highway was reopened Saturday.

There have been no reports of damage to structures in the area, and no evacuations were put in place.
