PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, Dec. 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Family members have identified the victim of a fatal auto-pedestrian accident Monday night at the intersection of State Street and Pleasant Grove Boulevard.

A GoFundMe page set up by a member of the extended family said the deceased is Michael Madsen.

Officers were dispatched to the accident scene at about 6:07 p.m., a news release from Capt. Smith of the Pleasant Grove Police Department said.

Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a 12-year-old boy, later identified as Madsen.

According to the news release, the boy was crossing Pleasant Grove Boulevard, heading south, when he was struck by a “large construction type truck, who was making a right-hand turn.”

The driver of the truck has been cooperative with the investigation, and officials do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.

“We are saddened to learn that a 12 YO male lost his life while crossing the street. Our hearts go out to his family and friends,” Smith said in the news release.

“We want to thank everyone for their patience as we investigate this tragedy. Please drive safely out there.”

The release also expressed thanks to Pleasant Grove Fire Department, Utah County Sheriff’s Office, Utah Highway Patrol, Utah Medical Examiner, American Fork Police, and the Lindon Police Department for their help.

According to comments on the fundraising page, the donation site preferred by Michael’s parents is a Venmo account set up under the victim’s full name, Michael Dominic Madsen.
