HERRIMAN, Utah, June 12, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Herriman man who was critically injured early last Friday morning, riding a recently purchased motorcycle, has died.

The deceased is Chase R. Ostler, 34, said a follow-up news release from Herriman Police Department Wednesday.

The accident occurred in the parking area of the Timbergate apartments, 5630 W. Roe Deer Lane in Herriman at approximately 12:05 a.m.

Ostler was flown by medical helicopter to an area hospital in extremely critical condition.

“We are saddened to provide notification that Chase was removed from life support and passed away yesterday afternoon,” the news release said.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, officials said.

“While we cannot provide detailed answers to many questions at this time, we are investigating alcohol impairment, excessive speed and failure to wear a helmet as contributing factors in this crash,” the news release said. “The elimination of any one of those factors may have saved Chase’s life.”

Officials said at the time they had no information about the rider’s experience level, but that “the motorcycle was a recent purchase.”

Ostler was the only person involved in the crash.

“We highly urge the use of an approved helmet and other safety equipment for any operator or passenger of a motorcycle, and would ask that all drivers operate at a safe and prudent speed and never drive impaired,” the news release said.

Gephardt Daily will have additional information as it becomes available.
