
WEST JORDAN, UTAH – November 15, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Police on Monday identified the man killed in a Sunday accident involving a sedan hit by a pick-up truck that ran a red light.
Oscar Cordova-Cruz, 77, was killed and his passenger was seriously injured in the accident at 5600 West 7800 South.
According to West Jordan police investigators, the vehicles collided around 6:30 p.m. when the 18-year-old driver of a white pick-up drove through the red light while heading east. Cordova-Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver of the pick-up truck was taken to West Jordan Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say preliminary evidence collected at the scene showed drugs may have been involved in the crash. Their investigation is ongoing.
