SEVIER COUNTY, Utah, March 15, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 77-year-old man who had been missing since March 4, was found Friday, deceased, officials reported.
James Fields’ body was found about 4 p.m. near Parachute, Colorado, a Facebook post by Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said.
“His vehicle was found stuck in the mud and they were able to locate Mr. Fields several hundred yards away,” the post said. “We are working with the Colorado officials in the investigation. Our condolences to the Fields family.”
In a subsequent news release, Sevier County Sheriff Nathan J. Curtis stated that authorities from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation contacted the SCSO on Friday, reporting that private citizens in Colorado had found the truck parked on their property, stuck in the mud.
“On Monday March 5, 2019 Mr. Fields failed to show up to a medical appointment in Provo, Utah,” the news release states. “When he did not arrive for his appointment, the hospital contacted his wife who was out of town at the time. Deputies did a welfare check at the home in Annabella (6 miles south east of Richfield, Utah) and found he was not at home and his truck was not in the driveway.”
The next day, March 6, Fields’ wife called Sevier County deputies and reported him missing. He had not taken his cellphone with him and had not used any of his debit or credit cards while he was missing, the news release says.
Sevier County detectives have been in contact with Colorado officials and are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
