HYRUM, UTAH, July 2, 2025 — A man and woman were found dead Monday following a standoff and exchange of gunfire with law enforcement officers at a mobile home park in Hyrum, authorities said.
According to the Cache County District Attorney’s Office, the incident began early Sunday morning when a woman called 911 to report a relative, Jorge Andrade, had told her he had killed his wife, Holly Andrade, and was waiting to confront police at his residence in the Valley View Estates Mobile Home Park.
A Cache County sheriff’s deputy, responding to reports of a possible homicide, arrived at the scene and was immediately met with gunfire, the District Attorney's Office said. The deputy took evasive action, seeking cover down the street and requesting backup.
Additional officers and deputies, including a rapid-response SWAT team, converged on the mobile home and were also fired upon, the DA's Office said. Officers returned fire and took cover as Logan police deployed an armored vehicle to the scene.
The standoff continued for several minutes before an explosion was heard inside the trailer and gunfire ceased. Unsure of the suspect’s status, officers used armored vehicles to breach the structure, then deployed drones to inspect the interior.
Inside, police found Jorge Andrade dead, along with Holly Andrade, who had suffered fatal injuries consistent with sharp force trauma, officials said.
In accordance with state law, an investigation into the use of force by officers at the scene is being conducted by the Northern Utah Critical Incident Protocol Team.
No officers were reported injured in the incident.
