Update: Mop-up operations underway after new wildfire start in Millard County

MILLARD COUNTY, Sept. 20, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Mop-up operations are underway after a new fire broke out in Millard County Sunday afternoon.

The fire, first reported at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, has been named the Long Canyon Fire, said a tweet from Utah Fire Info.

The fire is located west of Scipio in the Little Long Canyon area. It is less than one acre.

“Crews hiked into the #LongCanyonFire and determined it lightning-caused,” said a tweet from Utah Fire Info Monday. “Fire is creeping and smoldering in timber and grass. Crews will monitor and continue mop-up operations tonight. Last report unless significant changes occur.”
