Update: Motorcyclist, 67, dead after hit-and-run incident in Liberty Wells neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 2, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- Police have released new information surrounding a hit-and-run crash that fatally injured a motorcyclist in the Liberty Wells neighborhood Sunday night.

According to an updated news release by Salt Lake City Police Department, the victim has been identified as a 67-year-old male.

His name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

First responders, including police and medical personnel, we dispatched to 2100 South and 400 East around 10:45 p.m.

"When officers arrived, they found a motorcyclist critically injured."

Paramedics took the 67-year-old man to the hospital, where he later died.

"The driver suspected of hitting the motorcyclist left the scene and did not stay to assist or speak with officers."

Preliminary information suggests the suspected hit-and-run driver ran a stop sign before colliding with the motorcyclist, the release says.
