SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, June 19, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who was in extremely critical condition after a motorcycle-SUV collision in South Salt Lake Saturday has died.
The deceased has been identified as Marcos Villagrana, 23, from Sandy, said Gary Keller, spokesman for the South Salt Lake Police Department, in a statement. Villagrana was pronounced dead at 8:38 a.m. Tuesday, the news release said.
Keller said Saturday the collision happened at 11:41 a.m. at 3750 S. State St. A Toyota SUV was northbound on State Street and made a U-turn to southbound State Street at 3750 South. The motorcycle was southbound on State Street and hit the rear of the southbound Toyota SUV.
Villagrana was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance.
The 49-year-old male driver of the Toyota SUV was not injured. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The Salt Lake County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team was called out to
investigate the crash.
