LOGAN, Utah, Feb. 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who was found Friday in his wrecked car, with a stab wound to his chest, died of the stab wound, officials said Saturday.
A Utah Highway Patrol news release identifies the man as 64-year-old Clair Peterson, of Logan. The news release states the wound was self-inflicted.
The crash occurred at 7:42 p.m. on SR-30 at mile marker 107, just outside Logan City.
Peterson was driving a blue Chrysler 300 westbound when “the vehicle veered off the roadway, through a run off ditch and hit a concrete wall,” the news release says.
The car went a short distance further and came to rest in the ditch.
First responders observed that Peterson had a stab wound in the chest near his heart, and a knife was found on the passenger side of the front seat.
He was transported to Logan Regional Hospital, where he died.
“An autopsy was performed, and it appears that the cause of death was the stab wound and that it was self inflicted,” the release says.
