Update: Officials ID pilot killed in crash outside Nevada’s Nellis Air Force Base

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, May 26, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have identified a pilot killed in a plane crash Monday afternoon on the outskirts of Nellis Air Force Base, north of Las Vegas.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as Nicholas Hunter Hamilton, 43, from Las Vegas.

The contractor-operated aircraft, which National Transportation Safety Board officials have identified as a Dassault Aviation Mirage F-1, crashed shortly after taking off from Nellis AFB.

According to a tweet by Nellis AFB, the plane went down in the backyard of a home adjacent to an elementary school outside the southern edge of the base about 2:30 p.m.

There were no reports of injuries on the ground.

“Multiple federal and local first responders are on scene. The incident is under investigation,” the NAFB tweet said.
