SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 21, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol has released the name of the woman who died Wednesday afternoon in a rollover accident near the I-15 and I-80 interchange is Salt Lake City

The deceased is identified as Maikel A. Enoch, 24, of Salt Lake City.

UHP investigators say Enoch was driving north on Interstate 15 when she tried to merge  westbound onto Interstate 80.

According to UHP Lt. Nick Street, the SUV flipped, rotating twice, and Enoch — who may or may not have been restrained — hit the sunroof before being thrown from the vehicle.

Sunroofs can be a vulnerable point in a car’s structure, Street said, and can open when a car frame is under extreme pressure.

Enoch was ejected from the SUV and over a cement barrier landing on the ground approximately 20 feet below.

Street said Enoch had a weak pulse when first responders arrived but she passed away at the scene.

A male passenger and two children who were traveling with Enoch were not seriously injured, Street said.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist with medical and funeral expenses; Enoch had a 2-and-a-half year old daughter and a baby boy who turned 1 Saturday.

The accident investigation is ongoing. Gephardt Daily will have more information as it is released.
