OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified a man who died after being struck by a car in Ogden Saturday night.

The deceased is Richard Alden Provence, 54, from Ogden, officials said.

The auto-pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of 3rd Street and Washington Boulevard just before 10:15 p.m., according to Ogden Police.

Provence was attempting to cross Washington Boulevard, officials said, when a car heading north hit him. He was initially transported to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden in critical condition, then flown to a Salt Lake hospital. He passed away early Sunday morning.

The incident is still under investigation as of Tuesday, officials said, but at this stage it appears the man was not in a crosswalk.

The driver of the vehicle, who is 16, remained at the scene and is cooperating with officials. The driver was not cited and impairment and distraction do not appear to be factors.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
