WEST JORDAN, Utah, Jan. 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A burglary suspect who ransacked a home in West Jordan last week while a 12-year-old resident slept through it all has been taken into custody by U.S. Marshals.

The suspect, Thomas Arzon, was arrested Monday night and transported to West Jordan Police for questioning, according to a news release from the department.

“Arzon was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on outstanding warrants along with burglary and theft charges,” the news release said. “Arzon was wanted from out of state as well.”

According to a previous news release from Detective Brett Madsen, WJPD public information officer, the incident happened at about 9:23 a.m. Wednesday, when the suspect damaged the dog-door to gain access to the interior doorknob/lock and entered the home.

The suspect took several items from the home and fled in a vehicle.

When the 12-year-old later woke up, he saw that the home had been ransacked, and police were called a short while later. The child had just had surgery, family members said.

The WJPD issued surveillance photos of the suspect and the vehicle, hoping he might be recognized.

“The public’s assistance is appreciated in identifying the suspect,” the follow-up news release said.
