OGDEN, Utah, May 19, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified a man arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Ogden just before midnight Saturday.

Ogden Police Department officials confirmed to Gephardt Daily on Sunday afternoon that Everardo Guadarrama-Garcia, 24, is being held in Weber County Jail in connection with the incident. Guadarrama-Garcia is facing charges of murder, obstruction of justice, aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and four charges of failure to appear on a citation.

Police were dispatched on a report of a shooting on 31st Street, and they arrived to find a man unconscious and bleeding from a gunshot wound.

Lt. Tyler Ziegler, Ogden Police Department, said the victim, a man in his mid-20s, died at the scene, outside on the 500 block of 31st Street.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the fatal shooting.

“It was an isolated incident, but it’s still early, it’s under investigation, and we aren’t sure exactly what led up to it,” Ziegler said at 1:45 a.m. Sunday. He had no information as to how many shots had been fired.

Ogden City Police officials told Gephardt Daily on Sunday afternoon that it’s likely the victim will be identified Monday morning, and further details are likely to be released at that time.

Anyone who has any information regarding this incident is asked to call Ogden Police Department’s Major Crimes Bureau at 801-629-8228.
