Update: Police ID man killed in Bountiful house fire

BOUNTIFUL, Utah, May 17, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified a man killed in a Bountiful house fire Friday.

The deceased is Scott E. Moore, 61, said a news release from Bountiful City Police Department Monday.

“South Davis Metro Fire, the Utah State Fire Marshals and Bountiful police detectives continue to investigate the fire,” the news release said. Officials previously called the incident “suspicious.”

The fire began in the basement of a residence at 1925 E. Maple Hollow Way at approximately 10 a.m., then quickly spread to the roof, a previous statement said.

Two individuals were inside the home, officials said, but only one was able to make it out.

Moore was found deceased in the basement.

A police officer and a firefighter were injured while fighting the blaze, the statement said.

The fire caused an estimated $800,000 in damages.
