Update: Police ID motorcyclist who died in collision near Spanish Fork

SPANISH FORK, Utah, Aug. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have identified a motorcyclist who died after an accident on Interstate 15 near State Route 164 Sunday afternoon.

The deceased is Tyrel Prior, 26, of Salem, according to a Utah Highway Patrol news release.

The crash happened when a blue Toyota Tacoma was making a left turn to go south on I-15 from SR-164 westbound just after 2:40 p.m.

A red motorcycle was eastbound on SR-164 when “the Toyota turned directly into the path of the bike and was struck broadside by the red motorcycle,” the release said.

The rider of the motorcycle, later identified as Prior, suffered fatal injuries in the collision.

The southbound I-15 ramps and both east-and westbound SR-164 were closed into the early evening.
