Update: Police ID skier who hit tree while trying to avoid collision at Brighton resort

BRIGHTON, Utah, Jan. 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified a 63-year-old man who died after hitting a tree on Monday afternoon while skiing at the Brighton Ski Resort.

Unified Police Department tweeted that Michael Rueckert, a Utah man, died at the scene from the injuries he suffered from the skiing accident.

“Witnesses say that Mr. Rueckert lost control when he avoided a stopped skier and went on to hit a tree,” the tweet said.

“Yesterday at 1:30 p.m., a 63-year-old man died of injuries he sustained after hitting a tree at Brighton Ski Resort,” a UPD tweet Monday said.
