Update: Police ID woman killed in crash on Interstate 15 in Roy area

ROY, Utah, Oct. 24, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman who was critically injured in a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Roy Thursday has passed away.

Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release Janica Lee McCloud, 42, of Roy, died at Ogden Regional Hospital from injuries sustained in the accident.

A tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation at 3:45 p.m. said the crash was on southbound I-15 near 5600 South at mile post 338. All but one lane of southbound I-15 in that area was closed, but has since reopened.

A news release from the UHP said: “Heavy traffic with multiple vehicles following too close caused a chain reaction crash on I-15 in Weber county today at 2:50 p.m. Five people were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. One adult female was transported by helicopter in critical condition. Most of I-15 southbound was closed for one-and-a-half hours.”
