SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 23, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police said Sunday they are following up on “any and all leads” in the search for a missing University of Utah student last seen almost a week ago.

Mackenzie Lueck, 23, had returned from visiting her family in California, and last texted her family from the Salt Lake International Airport at about 1 a.m. Monday, police say.

Lueck’s message said she was going to take a Lyft, and a witness told police that she was seen leaving in a Lyft. Salt Lake police say her destination was an address in North Salt Lake.

The residence Lueck reportedly shares with roommates is in Salt Lake City.

“SLCPD has been conducting a missing persons investigation, and has spoken with Lyft as well as the Lyft driver,” a statement released Saturday says. “Lyft and their driver have cooperated with the investigation.”

On Sunday afternoon, SLCPD tweeted: “SLCPD is still actively looking for Mackenzie Lueck. Detectives have been working throughout the weekend and will continue to follow any/all leads. We are aware of info being shared by her friends and others about this case.”

A follow-up tweet added: “We are working diligently to maintain the integrity of this case and ask that anyone with information on Mackenzie or her possible location please contact us. #Seesomethingsaysomething.”

On Friday, Lyft officials released a statement confirming they had talked with police.

“We recognize how scary this must be for those who know and love Ms. Lueck. The safety of our community is fundamental to Lyft and we are actively assisting law enforcement with their investigation.”

Lyft added that the route contained no irregularities and ended at the destination as originally entered by the rider, and the driver continued providing rides immediately after the ride ended.

Salt Lake police officials have not uncovered any indication that Lueck has been harmed or is in danger, the new statement says, but “Detectives are concerned for Mackenzie’s welfare.

“If anyone has any information on Mackenzie or where she may be, please contact SLCPD at 801-799-3000 re: case 19-111129.”

Lueck is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. She has medium-length blond hair and brown eyes.
