TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, June 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have revealed the names of the two women killed Thursday morning in Taylorsville in what police are investigating as a murder-suicide.
The victim was 47-year-old Richelle “Shelly” Horsley. The suspect was 49-year-old Fransiska Dastrup. According to police, the two had been in a relationship, but had broken it off.
Officers also revealed that Horsley had filed for a protective order against Dastrup on June 15 in 3rd District Court. The petition was scheduled to be heard in court July 5.
Authorities received a call of a shooting at approximately 6:35 a.m. in the area of 2500 W. Dutch Draw Drive (4500 South), Lt. Brian Lohrke, spokesman for the Unified Police Department, told Gephardt Daily.
Lohrke said authorities from the UPD Taylorsville precinct arrived and found a tan Chevrolet Equinox crashed into a blue Hyundai Elantra in a back alleyway. Horsley , the driver of the blue Hyundai, was found deceased inside her car with multiple gunshot wounds.
In a search of the area, police found Dastrup about 100 yards from the crash site, and a handgun near her body. Her wounds appeared to be self-inflicted, Lohrke said.
“We know these two females were in a relationship, and we have been here before on domestic-type disturbances,” Lohrke said.
Police had been called to the residence multiple times for similar issues, Lohrke said. The most recent domestic disturbance call was less than 24 hours before the shootings.
