SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Oct. 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman who was in critical condition after a three-vehicle rollover collision in South Salt Lake on Wednesday night has died.

A news release from South Salt Lake Police Department on Thursday afternoon said the 48-year-old driver of an SUV who was ejected from her vehicle has since passed away.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of extended family, the news release said.

Officers responded to the scene, at 2800 S. State St., at approximately 9:30 p.m.

“It looks like the SUV was traveling northbound on State Street,” said Sgt. Josh Suazo, South Salt Lake Police Department, at the scene. “We believe a Dodge collided with it. The SUV rolled. My understanding was an ejection of the woman in the SUV, that she was under it.”

The woman was initially transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The Dodge then hit a second car, Suazo said. Those inside were not seriously hurt, but went to the hospital to be assessed, he said.

The crash investigation is ongoing, the follow-up news release said.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
