SUNDANCE, Utah, May 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The female tourist who died a week ago while riding a zip line at Sundance Resort is believed to have sustained the fatal injuries when she hit a broken part of a tree at a high rate of speed.
That is the finding of a investigators from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, according to a prepared statement released Friday by the office. They believe the broken portion of the tree was blown by high winds into the victim’s path.
Lisa Lambe, 55 and from North Carolina, died at about 5:40 p.m. on May 20 of blunt force trauma, according to Utah Count Sheriff’s office investigators.
They located the broken tree, and they found forensic evidence Lambe had come into contact with the tree, according to the statement. The break in the tree was consistent with Lambe’s injuries.
According to information on the Sundance Resort Website, people traveling on the multiple spans of its zip lines can reach speeds of more than 65 mph. Sundance’s summer season started May 20, the same day Lambe died on the final span.
Investigators said they found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing in the case, the statement said.
