TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, June 19, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Command is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the discovery of SPC Joseph Michael Bushling, who went missing in Tooele County more than a decade ago.
The Army agency, which uses the acronym CID, “is seeking information leading to the discovery of SPC Joseph Michael Bushling, who went missing near Buckhorn Canyon and Rainbow Mine Road, Tooele County, Utah, on 8 May 2011,” the poster says.
“Bushling is described as a White male, brown hair, green eyes, and was last seen wearing khaki shorts, light colored T-shirt, flip flops,” says the flyer, rereleased this week.
A Facebook page called Missing SPC Joseph Bushling, which has one million followers and is owned by lostnmissing.com, says that Bushling was stationed at Dugway Proving Ground when he drove out into the desert in a borrowed black Mitsubishi Lancer, then called a friend to say he had run out of gas and planned to walk back to the base.
He never returned, and the vehicle was found abandoned in a deep ravine six days later, 64 miles from Dugway, the site says, adding his hat was found some distance away. The Facebook site also says Bushling was 5 feet 9 inches, and was 26 at the time of his disappearance.
The Army CID reward remains active until December of this year, and military federal employees are typically not eligible, the missing flyer says.
Anyone seeking to share information is asked to contact the Fort Carson CID office at 719-526-3991 or cid.army.mil/report-a-crime. Information can also be reported confidentially through the same website.
