UTA adds extra early morning services for Salt Lake City Marathon

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 10, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Transit Authority has added extra early morning services for the Salt Lake City Marathon Saturday.

A press release from UTA said the first early morning services will be as follows:

  •   4:07 a.m. first Red Line train from Daybreak to University
  •   4:21 a.m. first Blue Line train from Draper to University

All Salt Lake City Marathon event participants, staff and volunteers have their UTA fare covered for the full day, the press release said. Race bibs and volunteer shirts are valid as UTA fare for the full day Saturday.

Train frequency to Marathon:

  • Become more frequent as train arrival times get closer to event start times (when ridership is heavier)
  • From Daybreak, frequency starts at 30 minutes and increase to 15 minute (then go to 20 minutes after Marathon starts)
  • From Draper, frequency starts at 30 minutes and increase to 15 minute (no direct trains to University after Marathon starts)
  • From Fashion Place to University, frequency starts at 15 minutes and increase to 7 minutes (then go to 20 minutes after Marathon starts)

The Marathon route crosses light rail lines at:

  •   Red Line: 900 East (400 South)
  •   S-Line: 600 East (2250 South)

Marathon Schedule (Start at Wasatch Drive just north of Mario Capecchi, unless otherwise noted):

  •  6 a.m. Bike Tour start (Olympic Legacy Bridge at U of U)
  • 6:20 a.m. Wheelchair and hand cycle start (Olympic Legacy Bridge at U of U)
  • 7 a.m. Marathon start (Olympic Legacy Bridge at U of U)
  • 7 a.m. Half-marathon start (Olympic Legacy Bridge at U of U)
  • 7:05 a.m. 5K start (from Library Square)
  • 7:10 a.m. 10K Skate start (from 900 E. 400 South)
  • 7:15 a.m. 10K Run start (from 900 E. 400 South)
  • 8 a.m. Kids’ activities begin (Library Square)
  • 10:45 a.m. Kids’ marathon (at Library Square)
  • 1:30 p.m. Finish line closes (at Library and Washington Squares)
