DAVIS COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating after a UTA bus and a semi were struck by gunfire on US-89 in Fruit Heights Monday morning.

The incidents occurred in the area of Nicholls Road at approximately 5:15 a.m., according to Davis County Sheriff’s Office officials. Initial reports indicate the shots came from the east side of US-89, but no details about a suspect were immediately available.

Officials said the UTA bus was hit multiple times, and though there were 12 passengers and a driver on board at the time, no one was injured.

A semi was also struck at around the same time, but the driver was not injured and did not realize shots had been fired until later.

Detectives are in the process of searching a peach orchard in the area that they believe may have been where the gunfire came from.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
