SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, May 4, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Authorities say an individual who was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a commuter train appears to have died by suicide.
First responders were dispatched to the scene of the “train vs. person incident” just before 6:30 a.m.
Utah Transit Authority spokesman Carl Arky told Gephardt Daily the person who was killed had previously been seen and reported in a restricted area.
Bus bridges were set up, including one between Salt Lake City and Provo.
The death investigation required the presence of a medical examiner; the investigation at the scene lasted for hours, Arky said.
The FrontRunner schedule did not fully return to normal until after 2 p.m.
