Utah businessman Jerry Seiner dead at age 75

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 3, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah businessman Gerald John “Jerry” Seiner, the founder and chairman of Seiner Dealerships, has died at the age at 75.

Seiner died Feb. 2 after a battle with cancer.

Seiner opened his first Utah car dealership, selling Chevrolets, in 1980 with 60 employees. Seiner Dealerships now operates 11 franchises with 350 employees, according to a news release.

Seiner was also known for his work with charities and community organizations. He had served as president of Make-A-Wish Utah, president of the financial board of trustees for Judge Memorial Catholic High School and president of the advisory board of the University of Utah’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

In lieu of flowers, Seiner’s family is requesting that donations be made to the Carmelite Sisters at the Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Monastery, 5714 S. Holladay Blvd., Salt Lake City.
