EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah, July 1, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A firearm-related charge has been submitted to prosecutors after an Eagle Mountain man was located by his license plate and reportedly “admitted that he’d been involved in the road rage incident and admitted he brandished the handgun during that incident.”

Regarding Ariel Rangel Perez, 22, “A firearm related charge has been submitted to prosecutors. Additional traffic related violations have also been submitted,” says a statement from the Utah County Sheriff‘s Office.

The incident reportedly happened just before 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, and Utah County deputies in Eagle Mountain reported to the scene.

The alleged victim had the license plate from the other vehicle, and it was traced to the registered owner, who was not at his listed address.

At about 6 a.m. today, July 1, a deputy was watching traffic on Pony Express Parkway in the city center when he saw the car described by the victim and the witness, the Utah County Sheriff’s statement says. The description matched and the license plate also matched.

“The registration for the car was revoked and had also been expired since November 2023. The Deputy stopped the car and spoke to the driver, Perez.

“Mr. Rangel Perez’s driver license was also suspended and he had no insurance for his car. He admitted that he’d been involved in the road rage incident and admitted he brandished the handgun during that incident.

“Mr. Rangel Perez was given a citation for the traffic violations for the stop today and his car was impounded for the insurance and registration violations. The Deputy who stopped him submitted the case to the Prosecutor’s office for Rangel Perez to be charged with one class A misdemeanor count of threatening with a dangerous weapon during a fight.”
