UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 3, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Multiple Utah County agencies responded to a brush fire, but could not risk entering an outbuilding due to its damaged roof.
“The fire spread quickly to (the) building and it became fully engulfed, along with a nearby tree,” says a statement issued by the Santaquin City Fire/EMT.
“Crews worked to contain the tree and brush fire from spreading further. However, it was unsafe for crews to enter the outbuilding due to structural damage and compromised roof,” the news release says of the Thursday fire.
“A defensive strategy from the exterior was used.
“Several pieces of equipment, including off-road vehicles and a bobcat were lost in the fire. Sadly a cat also perished in the fire. No other injuries were reported.”
Others responding included Genola and Goshen Fire crews.
The Payson fire marshal responded and is investigating the cause of the fire.
