UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 21, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Sgt. Spencer Cannon, Utah County Sheriff’s spokesman, took a few days off from serving the public this week to serve a longtime friend.

Ed Cameron was in stage four kidney failure and running out of options. Cannon had one more healthy kidney than he needed, and a generous heart as well.

So on Tuesday, Cannon underwent surgery, providing a kidney for his friend.

“You saved my life,” Cameron says in a video posted to Cannon’s Facebook page.

“You made my life better,” Cannon responds.

Cameron’s son, William, on Tuesday posted a message of thanks on his own Facebook page:

“I haven’t really been good at expressing myself in regards to this but I’ll give it a try,” the younger Cameron wrote.

“Spencer Cannon has saved my Father’s life today. Although the sacrifice Spencer made is extending my Father’s years left on earth I know and I pray that the blessings that come from this demonstration of Christlike love will extend on to the eternities and beyond. Not only for him but for the entire Cannon family as well.

“I thank our Heavenly Father for Spencer, his family and everyone else involved. I pray that in everything you all are blessed with strength, success and protection in conjunction with all other good things there are and will be. Thank you thank you thank you.”

According to a post on Cannon’s page, Cameron is doing well with the new kidney, and it is “serving him well.”
