TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, July 14, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Utah County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured Saturday morning while helping with a charity motorcycle event on Interstate 215.
The deputy was directing traffic near 4700 South to help other bikers get on I-215, then entered the highway himself and tried to catch up to the group.
He crashed at about 9:20 a.m. near 1300 West, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Lawrence Hopper told Gephardt Daily. The deputy, whose name has not been released, lost control of his bike and hit a concrete barrier, then fell to the roadway.
He suffered road rash and a possible broken arm, and was taken to a local hospital, Hopper said.
“It could have been a lot worse,” he said. “We are grateful that his injuries weren’t more severe.”
