Utah COVID-19 Update: 23 more deaths, 3,176 new cases since Friday; 640 more cases in school children

UTAH, Sept. 27, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health on Monday reported 23 more documented COVID-19 deaths, along with 3,176 more confirmed cases since Friday.

Of the new cases since Friday, 640 were in school children: 304 in children age 5 through 10; 149 in children ages 11 through 13, and 187 case in children ages 14 through 18.

Total cases now stand at 503,874, with nine cases removed after quality analysis, UDoH reports. Total documented coronavirus deaths in Utah now number 2,892.

The 23 deaths since Friday were of:

  • A Box Elder County woman between 45 and 64, hospitalized at time of death
  • An Emery County woman between 45 and 64, hospitalized
  • A Salt Lake County man between 25 and 44, hospitalized
  • Three Salt Lake County men between are 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • Two Salt Lake County women between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Salt Lake County woman between 65 and 84, not hospitalized
  • A Salt Lake County man, older than 85, hospitalized
  • A Salt Lake County man, older than 85, a long-term care facility resident
  • A Salt Lake County man, older than 85,  not hospitalized
  • A Sanpete County woman between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Tooele County woman between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Uintah County man between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Uintah County man, older than 85, hospitalized
  • A Utah County man between 45 and 64, hospitalized
  • A Utah County man between 65 and 84, a long-term care facility resident
  • Two Utah County men between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Utah County woman between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Washington County man between 65 and 84, hospitalized
  • A Weber County woman between 65 and 84, hospitalized

Vaccines

Vaccines administered number 3,430,386, which is 13,885 more than Friday.

Vaccinated vs Unvaccinated Risk Ratio:
In the last 28 days, people who are unvaccinated are at 5.5 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19, 7.8 times greater risk of being hospitalized due to COVID-19, and 6.6 times greater risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.

Since Feb. 1, 2021, people who are unvaccinated are at 4.1 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19, 5.0 times greater risk of being hospitalized due to COVID-19, and 4.2 times greater risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.

Vaccine administrations by all providers, sorted by patient residence

 

Lab tests have been conducted on 3,425,516 people, an increase of 20,927 people tested since Friday.

Tests administered number 6,158,381, an increase of 38,638 tests since Friday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 1,359 per day.

The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 13.8%. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 9.8%.

There are 586 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 21,911.
