Utah COVID-19 update: 242 new cases, no more deaths in past day

UTAH, May 16, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health on Sunday reported 242 newly documented cases of COVID-19 in the past day, and no additional deaths.

That brings total known cases to 402,567. Confirmed COVID-19 deaths remain at 2,258.

People tested for the coronavirus now stand at 2,637,780, an increase of 3,614 in the past 24 hours. Tests administered number 4,812,730 total tests, an increase of 6,601 since Saturday.

Vaccinations now stand at 2,407,851, which is 13,617 more than Saturday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 317 per day. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 6.5%. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 3.5%.

There are 153 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 16,519.
