Utah COVID-19 update: 253 new cases in past 24 hours, no deaths reported since Friday

UTAH, Aug. 31, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health has reported 253 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, but no additional deaths since Friday.

Utah coronavirus deaths remain at 407, the same number as reported Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

With the 253 new cases, Utah has a cumulative total of 52,107 positive cases.

To date, 659,855 tests have been performed, an increase of 4,348 tests since yesterday. The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 388 per day. The rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 8.9%.

Currently, 125 people in Utah are hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 3,093.

Patients classified as recovered, defined as still living three weeks after diagnosis, stand at 43,990. It is common for patients to die more than three weeks after diagnosis.
