Utah COVID-19 update: 386 more cases confirmed in past day, 4 new deaths

UTAH, May 7, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health on Friday announced 386 new cases of COVID-19 documented in the past day, and four more deaths.

The added cases bring Utah’s cumulative total to 399,760. Deaths stand at 2,223.

Those who died were:

  • A female, older than 85, Kane County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, between 45-64, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • 2 males, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death

One of the four deaths occurred before April 1.

Vaccines administered total 2,261,285, which is 19,014 more than yesterday.

People tested number 2,594,327, an increase of 5,450 since yesterday. Tests administered stand at 4,718,711, an increase of 11,311 tests since yesterday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 349 per day. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 6.7%. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 3.5%.

There are 137 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 16,323.
