SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, Jan. 13, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Hurricane Fire & Rescue is one of many Utah fire agencies to send crews to southern California to help that state’s and other volunteer crews battle three devastating fires that have killed at least 24 residents and destroyed thousands of homes.
A crew from Hurricane reported in today from the Eaton Fire, near Pasadena.
“The fire, which ignited on Jan. 7, has burned approximately 14,117 acres and is now 33% contained,” the group’s social media post says.
“Tragically, it has destroyed approximately 1,422 structures and continues to threaten around 39,428 more. The fire has resulted in 11 civilian fatalities and five firefighter injuries. E471 has been actively working in residential neighborhoods, securing gas lines and addressing existing hazards to help protect the community and mitigate further risks.”
Overall, 24 people have been confirmed dead and dozens more are missing in the three fires, according to UPI. Nearly 39,000 acres so far have been lost to the flames in the Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires.
North Tooele Fire shared a photo of its own trucks at the Palisades Fire, and Unified Fire has shared photos of multiple Utha agencies helping California firefighters.
